Job summary

Amentum is seeking a Senior AI Solutions Architect to lead Generative AI and LLM architecture within the AI Center of Excellence. The role drives lighthouse projects from design to deployment, establishing reusable patterns and governance for GenAI initiatives.

Hybrid work to our Reston, VA office with strict US citizenship requirements; you will mentor spoke-team leads and advance the COE's technical leadership in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Typically 8+ years of progressive experience in AI development, ML engineering, or applied AI.
• 3+ years hands-on with Generative AI / LLM systems with a Bachelor's degree in CS/Engineering/Data Science or related field; Masters/PhD preferred.
• Production experience deploying GenAI/LLM apps, including RAG, agentic workflows, and tool-use patterns.
• Hands-on AI/ML solution development across the full lifecycle—design, training/fine-tuning, evaluation, deployment, and monitoring.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy GenAI/LLM-based solutions to production for initial lighthouse projects.
• Build and prototype AI applications supporting enterprise, mission, and customer-facing use cases.
• Work hands-on with foundation models, agent frameworks, RAG architectures, and evaluation harnesses.
• Collaborate with peer roles on delivery and Council package preparation.
• Mentor spoke-team AI developers and contribute to reusable assets and best practices.
