Job summary

Primal Pet Foods in Abilene, TX is seeking a dependable Forklift Operator to support daily warehouse and production operations. You will receive, stage, transfer, store, load and unload raw materials, packaging, and finished goods while following safety, quality and SOPs.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6 months of related training or experience.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with strong attention to safety and detail.
• Reliable attendance and punctuality required.

Responsibilities

• Receive raw materials, packaging materials, and WIP inventory from vendors and internal departments.
• Safely move and stage materials in designated areas following procedures.
• Load and unload trucks efficiently and safely.
• Transfer finished goods pallets to holding freezers.
• Return unused materials to appropriate departments or storage locations.
• Assist with sorting, wrapping, packing, and repacking products as needed.
• Operate forklifts and other PITs safely and perform inspections.
• Change and charge forklift batteries as needed.
• Maintain equipment and keep work areas clean and organized.
• Support inventory accuracy and quality control procedures.

Job Summary The Forklift Operator plays an important role in supporting daily warehouse and production operations. This position is responsible for receiving, staging, transferring, storing, loading, and unloading raw materials, packaging materials, and finished goods while following company safety, quality, and operational procedures. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, dependable, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a cold warehouse environment.

What You’ll Do

Material Handling & Warehouse Operations

• Receive raw materials, packaging materials, and work-in-progress (WIP) inventory from vendors and internal departments
• Safely move and stage materials in designated areas following company and QA procedures
• Load and unload trucks efficiently and safely
• Transfer finished goods pallets to holding freezers
• Return unused materials to appropriate departments or storage locations
• Assist with sorting, wrapping, packing, and repacking products as needed

Forklift & Equipment Operation

• Operate forklifts and other Power Industrial Trucks (PIT) safely and responsibly
• Perform PIT inspections prior to use
• Change and charge forklift batteries as needed
• Maintain equipment, tools, and work areas in clean and organized condition

Inventory & Quality Control

• Maintain accurate inventory counts and material tracking
• Follow company food safety, quality assurance, and operational procedures
• Support inventory accuracy and product quality standards

General Support

• Maintain proper housekeeping throughout the shift
• Follow all safety procedures and workplace policies
• Assist with additional tasks and departmental needs as assigned

Qualifications

Preferred

• Previous forklift experience

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
• Frequently use hands and arms to handle materials and equipment
• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs regularly and up to 50 lbs occasionally without assistance
• Ability to lift/move over 50 lbs with assistance
• Comfortable working around moving mechanical equipment
• Ability to work in cold environments and loud warehouse conditions

Attendance Requirement

• Must be punctual with strong and consistent attendance

Compensation

$18.00

Schedule

Shift 1

Monday – Friday

6:30 AM – 16:30 PM

Candidates must be flexible and available to work daily overtime as needed.
