Job summary

Firstsource Solutions is seeking a Gen AI Engineer Mid-Level to join our remote team. You will own end-to-end Gen AI solutions from discovery to production, work with clients and stakeholders, and collaborate with engineering teams to deliver scalable AI solutions.

The role emphasizes hands-on development with LLMs, RAG systems, document processing pipelines, and cost and latency optimisation, with mentoring responsibilities for junior engineers.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of software engineering experience with at least one product or major feature deployed to real users.
• Strong programming skills in Python and one of: TypeScript, Go, Java.
• Hands-on experience building and deploying production-ready Gen AI/LLM-based applications.
• Strong understanding of Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), vector databases (Pinecone, Weaviate, pgvector), AI agents, distributed systems, and cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP).
• Experience with LLM cost optimisation, latency management, prompt versioning, and evaluation frameworks.
• Experience with client-facing roles and owning projects from development to deployment.
• Hands-on experience with AI coding assistants like Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Windsurf.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end delivery of Gen AI solutions, from requirement gathering to production deployment.
• Design and develop document processing pipelines, AI agents, RAG systems, copilots, and operational AI solutions.
• Build, deploy, and optimise LLM-powered applications.
• Implement evaluation frameworks, prompt versioning, cost and latency optimisation, monitoring, and guardrails.
• Interact with clients and stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
• Mentor junior engineers (0–2 years of experience), review code, and support their technical development.
• Contribute reusable components, frameworks, and solutions to Firstsource's internal AI platform.

About the Role

We are looking for a skilled Gen AI Engineer with hands-on experience in building and deploying production-ready AI solutions using Large Language Models (LLMs).

The ideal candidate should have strong software engineering fundamentals, experience delivering end-to-end Gen AI solutions, and the ability to work directly with clients and stakeholders.

At Firstsource, you will work on high-impact client engagements, own technical solutions from discovery to production, and collaborate with engineering teams to build scalable, reusable AI solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Experience interacting directly with clients, product managers, or business stakeholders.
• Must have independently owned at least one project from development to deployment.
• Hands-on experience with AI coding assistants such as Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or Windsurf.

Good to Have / Preferred Skills

• Experience developing internal engineering tools or AI platforms.
• Domain experience in BFSI, Healthcare, Telecom, Retail, or Insurance.
• Exposure to evaluation frameworks such as Braintrust and LangSmith.
• Experience with MCP servers, agent frameworks, and multi-agent orchestration.
• Experience troubleshooting production issues and making architectural improvements.
