Top Prospect Group in Manchester, CT seeks a Gear Engineer to design and optimize precision plastic gear systems for customer applications. You will develop gear designs, evaluate performance, and support tooling and manufacturing to meet customer and quality requirements.

You will work cross-functionally with Sales, Program Management, Quality, Tool Room, Molding, and Customers, travel as needed, and contribute to new gear applications and product development.

Qualificações

BS in Engineering or related technical field OR 10+ years of relevant gear/quality engineering experience
Strong knowledge of gear design principles and quality systems
Experience with plastic injection molded gears strongly preferred

Responsabilidades

Design single gears and complete gear mesh systems based on customer requirements
Develop optimized gear designs for performance, wear, strength, and tolerance requirements
Create gear data sheets for inspection and manufacturing
Apply shrinkage factors to plastic gear cavity/tooling data
Develop wire paths for spur gears, pulleys, and other gear cavities
Design electrodes, hobs, and tooling data for helical, worm, and screw cavities
Design gear trains for unscrewing molds
Review inspection results and determine tool rework vs. deviation recommendations
Modify cavity/tooling data based on inspection feedback
Collaborate with Sales, Program Management, Quality, Tool Room, Molding, and Customers
Provide technical support on new gear applications and customer product development
Travel as needed to support customers/projects

Position Overview

Seeking a skilled Gear Engineer to design and optimize precision plastic gear systems for customer applications. This role is responsible for developing gear designs, evaluating gear performance, supporting tooling/manufacturing, and collaborating cross-functionally to ensure products meet customer and quality requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Design single gears and complete gear mesh systems based on customer requirements
Develop optimized gear designs for performance, wear, strength, and tolerance requirements
Create gear data sheets for inspection and manufacturing
Apply shrinkage factors to plastic gear cavity/tooling data
Develop wire paths for spur gears, pulleys, and other gear cavities
Design electrodes, hobs, and tooling data for helical, worm, and screw cavities
Design gear trains for unscrewing molds
