Job summary

GE Vernova is seeking a student intern for the Generator Manufacturing department in Schenectady, NY. You will work on the floor with skilled technicians, gaining hands-on experience in heavy industrial manufacturing and lean processes, supporting production and quality improvements.

This internship runs May/June 2027 to August 2027, with opportunities to engage in automation initiatives and receive guidance from senior leaders and career coaching.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in a full-time undergraduate or graduate program in Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Energy-related majors will be considered.

Responsibilities

• Build foundational expertise in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment.
• Gain a 360-degree view of energy technology development with lean foundations.
• Support and troubleshoot equipment and processes on the floor to ensure safety, quality and productivity.

Job Description

What you’ll do (Job Responsibilities)

• You will build foundational expertise through an immersive experience in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment
• This internship will give you a 360-degree view of how energy technology is built, using a foundation of lean
• Work with a team of skilled technicians on the floor, providing support and troubleshooting equipment and process issues to ensure safety, quality and productivity
• In a Quality, Lean, or Manufacturing Engineering focused position, you’ll eliminate waste and optimize production
• Conduct root cause analysis to address production issues and implement corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives
• Identify opportunities for automation and implement advanced technologies to enhance manufacturing capabilities
• Gain access to senior leaders and dedicated career coaching to help you navigate your path

Required Qualifications:

• Must be enrolled in a full-time undergraduate or graduate program from an accredited college or university in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or a related engineering discipline. Energy related majors will be considered.

Other Eligibility Requirements:

• The required work location is Schenectady, NY - 100% onsite.
• Must have the ability to work in the United States for an unlimited amount of time without sponsorship

• Commitment:Minimum 3.0 on a 4.0 scale or 4.0 on a 5.0 scale cumulative GPA (without rounding).
• Experience with Design software (NX, SolidWorks, AutoCAD or similar CAD software)
• Experience in Robotics or AI

May or June 2027 to August 2027 (Summer).

The pay for this position ranges from $21.00/hr - $27.00/hr based on years of undergraduate/graduate field of study completed.

Employee Assistance Program: providing 24/7 confidential assessment, counseling and referral services.

GE Retirement Savings Plan (RSP): after their accumulated service reaches 90 days, and they meet any other eligibility requirements as defined in the plans. (Eligibility occurs on the 1st of the month following the 90th day).

This position is also eligible for:

Relocation Assistance: Co-op/Interns will be reimbursed for reasonable, proper, and documented expenditures incurred while initially reporting to work and returning to school/home upon completion of the assignment. Employees with a permanent address greater than 50 miles away from the work location are eligible.

Housing Allowance: Co-op/Interns employees receive a weekly housing allowance to help off-set living expenses when the co-op/Intern's permanent residence is at least 50 miles away from the work location.
