General Dynamics Information Technology, Inc. invites students to a 10-week Summer Internship focused on AI/ML Business Intelligence development. Interns will work on a range of projects, from agentic AI solutions to proxy services for LLM management, aligning with interests and enterprise data sources.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an associate’s, bachelor’s or master’s degree program in computer science, IT, engineering, or other STEM field from a United States-based college or university.
• Basic understanding of core Data Science concepts, including data cleaning, exploratory analysis, simple statistical methods, and foundational machine learning principles, with an eagerness to learn and apply AI/ML techniques in real-world projects.
• Basic understanding of Microsoft Office products (e.g., Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Excel, and Teams).

How You’ll Make this Internship Opportunity Your Own

Our AI/ML Business Intelligence Development summer interns will work on a range of projects that ideally align with their interests. Some interns will develop agentic solutions capable of answering business questions and performing approved actions across enterprise information sources. Other interns will develop standalone proxy services for full, front-end management of any LLM implementation. The ultimate product will be a single managed service which includes features such as detection, monitoring, security, and FinOps, allowing flexible implementations that nonetheless adhere to consistent governance and management standards. The ideal intern will have knowledge of AI/ML tools, data analysis and engineering, intelligent reporting, and process automation and prediction.

The Must-Haves

• Currently enrolled in an associate’s, bachelor’s or master’s degree program in computer science, IT, engineering, or other STEM field from a United States-based college or university.

What You’ll Need to Deliver Your Best Every Day

• Problem solving and interest in big data
• Effective communication skills
• Interest or experience with big data platform tools
• Interest in data cleaning, wrangling, transformation, model selection, cross-validation, and deployment
• Interest in writing acceptance criteria and confirming test case results
• Interest in producing requirements, sizing user stories, and removing roadblocks
• Interest in AI/ML security best practices to include data provenance, isolation, monitoring, and adversarial testing
• Interest in responsible AI/ML governance to include transparency, risk mitigation, fairness, and compliance
• Interest in FinOps practices
• Knowledge of interactive visual reporting and automation tools like Power BI, Tableau, Qlik, or AWS QuickSight
• Knowledge of Python, SQL, or other programming languages
• Experience working in a collaborative team environment.
• Intuitiveness with an ability to identify and solve complex problems related to rapidly changing technology.
• Ability to effectively articulate technical challenges and solutions.

GDIT interns are paid and full-time (40 hours/week) for 10 consecutive Applicants should have a minimum of one semester remaining in their studies after their internship concludes.

The likely hourly rate for this position is between $19.55 - $26.45. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
