Job description

GDEV makes private equity and private credit investments in middle-market sustainable infrastructure businesses. The GDEV team leverages deep experience in project development, structured finance, and operations to identify top-tier management teams and help them navigate periods of significant growth and change.

GDEV manages nearly half a billion dollars and has invested in over a dozen high growth companies. GDEV’s investments include a wide range of sustainable infrastructure and renewable energy technologies, with a focus on distributed energy resources (DERs). Our sector expertise includes solar power, battery storage, hydroelectric generation, energy efficiency, electrified transport, and sustainable fuels.

Position Overview

GDEV seeks to hire a Vice President to join its investment team in New York City. The role offers exposure to all facets of the investment process, including sourcing, structuring, due diligence, financial analysis, and legal documentation. The Vice President will serve as a senior member of the investment team, with primary responsibility for leading the execution of new investments from screening through closing, and for managing GDEV’s engagement with portfolio companies through value creation and exit. The role carries meaningful origination responsibility, direct interaction with management teams and investment committees, and day‑to‑day oversight and mentoring of AVPs and Associates. The successful candidate will be expected to grow into a future leader of the platform as GDEV continues to scale its capital base and shift toward control transactions in equity and expand its credit strategy.

What You will DO AT GDEV
  • Lead due diligence workstreams across commercial, financial, technical, legal, and tax topics, including selection and management of external advisors
  • Structure and negotiate transactions, including term sheets and definitive documentation
  • Build, review, and pressure‑test complex financial models, ensuring analytical rigor in base case underwriting and sensitivity analysis
  • Author investment memoranda and present opportunities to GDEV’s senior management and investment committee
  • Serve as primary day‑to‑day relationship lead for portfolio companies, including board observation, monitoring of operating performance, and engagement with management on strategy, capital structure, and capex planning
  • Drive value creation initiatives at portfolio companies, including strategic positioning, capital markets transactions, and operational improvement programs
  • Lead asset and corporate‑level acquisition, merger, and exit processes, including buy‑side and sell‑side execution
  • Support fundraising and LP relations, including preparation of materials, attendance at LP meetings, and participation in due diligence sessions with prospective investors
  • Manage and mentor AVPs and associates, including direct supervision of modeling, diligence, and memo preparation.
  • Maintain and review valuation models for GDEV’s quarterly valuation process and related internal reporting
  • Interact with third parties such as external counsel, lenders, the fund administrator, fund and transaction counsel, and other service providers
What You Will Bring to GDEV
  • Bachelor’s degree from a top‑tier accredited four‑year college or university
  • 5–7 years’ experience in private equity, investment banking, infrastructure investing, renewable energy development, and/or project finance
  • Industry experience in real assets / industrials, with preference for expertise specifically in power and renewable energy
  • Demonstrated track record leading transactions end‑to‑end, including origination, structuring, diligence, negotiation, closing, and post‑close portfolio engagement
  • Experience managing junior investment professionals and external advisors
  • Advanced Excel knowledge and ability to build and understand complex financial models
  • Proficiency reviewing and understanding legal contracts
  • Sound judgment: ability to assess risk‑adjusted returns, synthesize complex information, and make investment recommendations, often with incomplete data
  • Strong written and verbal communication: ability to distill complex financial and operational analysis into clear, compelling investment narratives for senior stakeholders
  • Ability to influence and drive alignment for all stakeholders.
  • Intellectual curiosity and entrepreneurial drive: passion for energy transition and a builder’s mentality suited to a fast‑growing platform
  • Leadership presence: credibility with management teams, co‑investors, lenders, and external counterparties, and the ability to represent GDEV in market
  • Appreciation for face‑to‑face interactions and working within a closely aligned team.
