Job summary

Goshen Community Schools Language Interpreter

POSITION PURPOSE:

Perform accurate and effective interpretation among all parties involved.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Performs Consecutive Interpreting
• Interpretation is delivered immediately after the source is presented, i.e. English speaker says a few phrases, interpreter delivers the message to non-English speaker, and vice versa.)
• Performs Sight Translation
• This oral translation of written documents such as enrollment forms, information release forms, etc., is done on the spot, as needed.)
• Interprets in situations where conflict or sharing of sensitive information may be involved.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent
• Being fluent in the two languages being interpreted
• Pass an interpreter test

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Ensures that accurate, effective communication occurs among all parties.
• Interprets without omitting, adding to, or altering anything said or written.
• Has some relevant experience
• Understands and upholds the rights of all parties and respects the confidentiality of the communication.
• Flexible
• Shows knowledge of cultures involved
• Comfortable with public speaking

SALARY:

$21.00 per hour
