Job summary

Samsung Austin Semiconductor in Austin, TX is seeking a Gas Equipment Engineer to own, operate, and improve bulk gas supply systems, and to coordinate the startup of new equipment while enhancing safety and reliability across the fab.

You will collaborate with operations, maintenance, construction teams and equipment vendors to plan maintenance, address technical issues, and lead continual improvement projects in a multi-cultural environment. This on-site role emphasizes safety and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Demonstrates strong leadership skills to interface with stakeholders across Samsung Facilities, Engineering, GCS Operations/Maintenance, and Construction.
• Familiarity with operation, maintenance, and design of gas and chemical equipment including piping systems and facility support equipment.
• Familiarity with analyzing trends in process and equipment systems related to flow rates, pressures, and consumption.
• Experienced with PSM/RMP program management plus.
• Familiarity with process gas and chemical system troubleshooting, with a strong mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to thrive in a multi-cultural environment.
• Ability to work overtime/on non-scheduled days as required.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical expertise and ownership for supply systems, safety and quality standards and improvements.
• Interact with operations and maintenance teams, construction teams, and equipment vendors to sustain and maintain equipment.
• Coordinate with Fab Engineering for technical support, supply issue resolution and collaboration for safety, quality and system reliability.
• Commission and startup new equipment installations.
• Develop and drive continuous improvement projects to improve quality, productivity and safety while reducing cost.
• Implement standardization methods across equipment fleet (work processes, alarm management, 6S principles).
• Optimize preventive maintenance strategies for aging assets to minimize risk of failures.

Position Summary

The Gas and Chemical Systems (GCS) Gas Equipment Engineer role is focused on comprehensively owning, maintaining, supporting, and improving specialty and bulk gas supply systems at Samsung. As a part of the Gas Systems team, you will provide support by interacting with the on-site operations and maintenance teams, as well as customer groups, to ensure world-class performance of equipment providing critical supply to Fab production.

This role is also responsible for coordinating the startup and commissioning of newly installed equipment, as well as developing and executing projects to expand and improve equipment sets for the group.

The role will involve management and oversight of Hazardous Production Materials (HPM), and places a premium on safety expertise and dedication.

The current base salary range for this role is between $76,000 - $145,000. Individual base pay rates will depend on factors including duties, work location, education, skills, qualifications and experience. Total compensation for this position will include a competitive benefits package and may include participation in company incentive compensation programs, which are based on factors to include organizational and individual performance.
