Job summary

Motion Recruitment in Irvine, CA is seeking a hands-on Data Engineer to expand its data platform on Google Cloud. You will build data infrastructure, develop backend services, and support scalable analytics powering retail technology products.

Ideal candidates have 3–7 years in data engineering, strong BigQuery, PostgreSQL, GCP, and Python skills, plus experience designing data pipelines and data warehouses. AI enhancements to data workflows are a plus.

Qualifications

• 3–7 years of experience in data engineering or a related software engineering role.
• Strong, hands-on experience with BigQuery, PostgreSQL, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Proficiency in Python and backend development.
• Experience building and maintaining data pipelines and data warehouse solutions.
• Understanding of database design, data modeling, query optimization, and scalable data systems.
• Experience with AI, LLMs, or AI-powered applications is a strong plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines and data infrastructure on Google Cloud.
• Build and optimize data warehouse solutions using BigQuery.
• Develop and maintain PostgreSQL databases, queries, and data models.
• Write Python code to support data engineering, backend services, and automation.
• Build and maintain backend services that integrate with data platforms and applications.
• Optimize data processing, query performance, and overall platform scalability.
• Collaborate with engineering and product teams to support analytics and data-driven applications.
• Explore opportunities to integrate AI capabilities into data workflows and platform functionality.
