Job summary

NRI North America's GCP Data Engineer role on the Data Analytics Data Platform team focuses on designing and delivering scalable data solutions on Google Cloud. You will analyze client needs, build data pipelines, and develop BI capabilities with BigQuery and Looker Studio.

Collaborate with clients and the DADP team to translate complex business problems into reliable data architectures, dashboards, and automated workflows, while embracing agile practices and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of data engineering experience.
  • Strong with GCP (BigQuery, Dataflow, Dataproc, Cloud Composer).
  • Proficient in SQL and Python.
  • Experience with data warehousing and lakehouse concepts.
  • Ability to communicate with clients and work in agile teams.

Responsibilities

  • Builds and maintains data pipelines, data lakes, and data warehouses.
  • Uses Dataplex to govern data quality across data lakes and data warehouses.
  • Transforms and models data, develops reporting and analytics, creates dashboards.
  • Collaborates with the DADP team and clients to deliver solutions.

GCP Data Engineer – (Subcontract at an NRI)
Summary

As a Data Engineer on the Data Analytics Data Platform (DADP) team, you analyze, develop, and deliver business intelligence solutions primarily using Google Cloud Platform (GCP) data platform‑related services. The Data Engineer collaborates directly with clients to ensure their expectations and business decision‑making tool needs are met. The Data Engineer is an expert in applying analytical and critical thinking skills and has experience developing scalable, reliable data solutions.

Responsibilities
  • Demonstrates passion, excellence, trust, transparency, and client focus.
  • Builds and maintains databases, data pipelines, and data lakes.
  • Uses Dataplex to catalog, govern, and manage data quality across data lakes and data warehouses.
  • Transforms and models data, develops reporting and analytics, creates dashboards, and works with analytics tools.
  • Efficiently, effectively, and carefully leverages AI tools to develop data platforms and data analytics solutions.
  • Understands business problems and processes based on direct conversations with clients, can see the big picture, and translate that into specific solutions.
  • Collaborates with other technical experts on the DADP team and is involved in all parts of the data analytics development process—from gathering requirements and solution delivery to documentation of lessons learned.

Required Skills and Experience
  • 3-5 years of work experience in data engineering.
  • Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) technologies and familiarity with modern data platform technologies such as BigQuery, Dataflow (Apache Beam), Dataproc (managed Spark/Hadoop), Cloud Composer (managed Apache Airflow), Cloud Data Fusion, Looker/Looker Studio.
  • Understanding of Agile engineering practices.
  • Deep familiarity and experience in the following areas: data warehouse and lake house methodologies, including medallion architecture; data ETL/ELT processes; data profiling and anomaly detection; data modelling (Dimensional/Kimball); SQL; Python; strong background in relational database platforms; DevOps/Continuous integration & continuous delivery.
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Effective oral and written communication and organizational skills.
  • Desire for continued education and certification as it relates to the position.
  • Adaptability to diverse business environments.
Preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in data analytics, computer science, information systems, or a related field.
  • Previous consulting experience is preferred but not required.
  • Experience migrating data platforms and workloads from Microsoft Azure to Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Google Cloud Professional Data Engineer certification (or equivalent GCP certification).
