Job summary

Aviato Consulting is hiring a Data Architect to bridge hands-on data engineering with platform architecture on Google Cloud. You will optimize Lakehouse infrastructure and cloud data pipelines, working with BigQuery, Dataflow, Dataproc and Pub/Sub in a scalable enterprise setting.

The role emphasizes end-to-end design, secure AI-enabled workflows, and cost optimization across BigQuery and Dataproc clusters, with an engineering‑driven culture and ESOP opportunities.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of hands-on data engineering and cloud architectural experience on GCP.
• Proficiency in Python, SQL, Java and PySpark/Spark SQL.
• Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect certification.
• Experience with data governance frameworks, FinOps and anomaly-detection pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end design and realization of scalable enterprise data platforms and Lakehouse architectures on GCP.
• Architect resilient batch and streaming pipelines using Spark, Dataflow, Dataproc and Pub/Sub.
• Establish reusable Airflow frameworks on Cloud Composer for CI/CD and onboarding across production workloads.
• Integrate AI/LLM workflows with security, governance and zero-egress controls.
• Drive governance, IAM, GDPR/HIPAA compliance and FinOps optimization.

Role Description

• Lakehouse & Platform Architecture: Lead the end-to-end design and realization of highly scalable enterprise data platforms and Lakehouse architectures (Apache Iceberg) across multi-domain ecosystems on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Data Engineering & Batch/Streaming Pipelines: Architect resilient, meta-data-driven ETL/ELT data pipelines using Apache Spark / PySpark, Advanced SQL, Dataflow (Apache Beam), Dataproc, and Pub/Sub to support real-time and batch analytics.
• Orchestration & Automation: Establish reusable Apache Airflow frameworks on Cloud Composer to streamline workflow automation, CI/CD, and pipeline onboarding across production workloads.
• AI & Security Integration: Architect secure LLM-powered platforms and AI-assisted workflows incorporating prompt-injection safeguards, secret detection, zero-egress controls, and ML-based anomaly detection for operational reliability.
• Governance & FinOps Optimization: Drive data lifecycle management, IAM, GDPR/HIPAA compliance, and FinOps initiatives across BigQuery and Dataproc clusters to optimize compute performance and minimize costs.

What You'll Bring to the Table:

• GCP Data Architecture Expertise: 8+ years of hands‑on data engineering and cloud architectural experience designing and managing enterprise-scale Google Cloud data platforms.
• Core Technical Stack: Advanced proficiency in Python, SQL, Java, PySpark/Spark SQL, BigQuery, Dataflow, Dataproc, Pub/Sub, Cloud Composer, GKE, and Apache Iceberg.
• Certification Requirement: A Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect certification.
• Governance & Optimization Mastery: Demonstrated track record in implementing FinOps cost optimizations, data governance frameworks, and data quality/anomaly detection pipelines.

Bonus Points:

• Hands-on experience with LLM orchestration, prompt engineering, and GenAI security controls.
• Experience migrating large-scale (50TB+) enterprise datasets and legacy analytical workloads (SQL Server, SAS) to GCP BigQuery.
