Job Title: Google Cloud Platform (GCP) Architect - Contract (Fully Remote - US)

Job Type: Contract

Location: Fully Remote (US-based)

Duration: 12 month rolling contract

Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Google Cloud Platform (GCP) Architect to join our team for a contract opportunity. This is a fully remote position open to candidates based anywhere in the United States. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in designing, deploying, and managing solutions on GCP, with a proven track record of working in cloud environments at scale. This role involves working closely with cross-functional teams to design cloud architectures, implement best practices, and ensure seamless integration with various cloud services.

Responsibilities:

1. Cloud Architecture Design: Design, implement, and maintain robust and scalable architectures using Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services, ensuring high availability, security, and performance.
2. Client Engagement: Work directly with clients to understand their business needs and translate them into technical solutions, providing expert advice on GCP solutions and best practices.
3. Solution Implementation: Lead the implementation of GCP-based solutions, including setting up infrastructure, cloud-native applications, data storage, and analytics pipelines.
4. Security & Compliance: Develop and enforce best practices related to security, identity management, networking, and compliance standards within the GCP ecosystem.
5. Performance Optimization: Monitor and optimize cloud environments, ensuring cost-efficient resource usage while maintaining optimal system performance.
6. Collaboration: Collaborate with other cloud architects, engineers, developers, and stakeholders to deliver end-to-end solutions. Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members.
7. Documentation: Create and maintain clear, comprehensive technical documentation for architectural designs, configurations, and deployments.
8. Troubleshooting: Provide troubleshooting expertise and resolve issues related to GCP services, architecture, and deployments.

Requirements:

1. Proven experience as a Cloud Architect or in a similar role with a focus on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
2. Expertise in GCP services such as Compute Engine, Kubernetes Engine, BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Cloud Networking, and others.
3. Strong knowledge of cloud security best practices, identity and access management (IAM), and compliance frameworks.
4. Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools like Terraform, Cloud Deployment Manager, or similar.
5. Experience with CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker), and orchestration tools (Kubernetes).
6. Solid understanding of cloud networking, including VPCs, VPNs, subnets, and DNS within GCP.
7. Experience with cloud monitoring tools (e.g., Stackdriver, Prometheus) for ensuring system health and performance.
8. Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with clients and teams across multiple time zones.
9. Self-motivated and independent, able to work effectively in a fully remote environment.
10. Certifications: Google Cloud Certified - Professional Cloud Architect or similar certifications are highly preferred.
