Job summary

Merchants Metals, LLC in Houston, Texas is seeking a dedicated GBW Operator to join our operations department. In this role, you will be responsible for moving materials through process tanks and ensuring that all procedural specifications are met.

POSITION SUMMARY

Opening in the operations department – GBW Operator, Galvanizing before weaving (shifts 5am-5pm).

GBW Operator – Galvanizing before weaving

• Move materials through the process tanks and zinc kettles
• Align and secure holding fixtures, attachments, accessories, or materials on machines
• Transfer metal into a furnace
• Measure, examine, or test completed units to check for defects and ensure conformance to specifications, using precision instruments, such as micrometers
• Monitor the feed and speed of machines during the machining process
• Maintain the surrounding area, keeping the area free of debris

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as required
• Follow established safety procedures when performing tasks and/or working with equipment.
• Read work instructions and set up machines as required to run different product sizes.
• Stand or walk for the entire shift and use arms and back to perform the tasks associated with the role.
• Must be able to work overtime as required with Saturday availability.
