Job summary

Prime Healthcare is seeking a Gastrointestinal Technician (GI Tech) for Riverview Regional Medical Center in Gadsden, AL. You will work in the GI Lab, supporting endoscopy teams during colonoscopies and upper endoscopies as the scrub assistant to the physician.

This full-time role with day shifts (6:30am–3:00pm) requires BLS on hire and a focus on patient safety and policy adherence in a hospital setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; related experience preferred.
• Current BLS (AHA) certificate on hire and maintained.
• Graduate of a training program or on-the-job training with a minimum of 2 years GI setting experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Responsible as the scrub assistant to the physician during invasive GI procedures.
• Supports procedures involving the digestive system, especially endoscopic exams like colonoscopies and upper endoscopies.
• Hand supplies and instruments to the physician without delay during procedures.
• Assist colleagues in delivering continuous, quality patient care for adolescents, adults and older adults.
• Adhere to regulations, standards, hospital and department policies and procedures.
• Participate in departmental Performance Improvement activities.
• Serve as a resource for other personnel as appropriate.

Location: Riverview Regional Medical Center, Gadsden, AL

We are seeking a Gastrointestinal Technician (GI Tech), internally referred to as GI Lab Tech or Endo Tech, in our GI Lab. As a GI Tech, you are directly accountable to the G.I. RN, the OR Charge Nurse and Director of Surgical Services and, indirectly, to the House Supervisor and the CNO/Administrator.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to):

• Responsible as the scrub assistant to the physician during invasive G.I. procedures
• Plays a key support role in procedures involving the digestive system, especially during endoscopic exams like colonoscopies and upper endoscopies
• Hands sterilized instruments, scopes and/or supplies to the physician during the procedure without unnecessary delay
• Assist co-workers in the provision of continuous, quality patient care for adolescents, adults and older adults
• Responsible for adhering to regulations, standards, hospital and departmental policies and procedures
• Participates in departmental Performance Improvement activities
• Acts as a resource person for other personnel as appropriate
