Banner Health's Desert Ridge Gastro Clinic in Scottsdale, AZ is seeking a Surgery Scheduler to coordinate surgical, cardiovascular or obstetrical procedures using a computerized scheduling system. The role includes entering patient charges, orders, and other information, and serving as a liaison between staff, patients and families.

The schedule is full-time, Monday through Friday, with start times between 7:30 am and 8:30 am.

Qualifications

  • 2 years of medical clerical experience, preferably in scheduling.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology is required.
  • Understanding payor contract terms and processes.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills; teamwork.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate case times for elective, urgent or emergent surgeries using a scheduling system.
  • Acquire authorization numbers, history and physicals, and current results; obtain records as needed.
  • Type and print physician orders; schedule block times and releases.
  • Enter physician orders for labs, imaging and charges; compile data for reports.
  • Conduct charge management audits and correct missed or incorrect charges.
  • Act as receptionist and liaison among staff, physicians, patients and families; manage calls and information.
  • Enter work and supply orders; arrange maintenance as required.
  • Maintain workflow and protect confidentiality in a high-pressure setting.
