Job summary

The University of Maryland Faculty Physicians’ GI division at Upper Chesapeake Health is building a comprehensive GI service line in Bel Air, MD. Starting July 2025, the program offers inpatient and outpatient GI care in a new Ambulatory Surgical Center and ambulatory space.

We seek 3-4 gastroenterologists with 3-5 years’ experience, board certification preferred, and opportunities for subspecialty development.

Qualifications

• Doctoral degree in Medicine in area of specialty.
• 3-5 years of clinical experience.
• Board certified or board eligible gastroenterologists (preferred).
• Advanced endoscopy skills such as ERCP, EUS (preferred).
• CPR required.
• BLS required.
• ACLS and/or other relevant certification as required by the department.
• Ability to perform general GI procedures proficiently (e.g., upper endoscopy with biopsies, colonoscopy with polypectomy, PEG).

Responsibilities

• Provide inpatient and outpatient GI services at the new GI clinic and ASC.
• Participate in endoscopy procedures and coordinated patient care.
• Teach GI fellows, IM residents and medical students.
• Collaborate with University of Maryland division and affiliated hospitals.
• Contribute to program growth and quality metrics.
