Job summary

Florida Atlantic University’s Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine is seeking a Gastroenterologist to join the clinical faculty as Assistant/Associate/Full Professor.

The successful candidate will provide exceptional diagnostic and therapeutic care for GI, hepatic, biliary and pancreatic disorders within the Florida Atlantic Medical Group and participate in teaching, mentorship, and scholarly activities. Qualifications

  • MD or DO degree from an accredited institution; credentials to merit appointment at Assistant Professor or higher.
  • Florida medical license or ability to obtain one; ABMS Board certification or eligibility in Gastroenterology.
  • Commitment to academic teaching, scholarship, and community engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic care for GI, hepatic, biliary, and pancreatic disorders.
  • Perform diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures.

Position Summary

The FAU Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine seeks a dynamic and collaborative Gastroenterologist to join our clinical faculty at the rank of Assistant/Associate/Full Professor. The successful candidate will be a highly skilled physician specializing in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of a wide range of gastrointestinal diseases and conditions. This position offers the opportunity to provide exemplary, compassionate care within the Florida Atlantic Medical Group with a strong emphasis on serving broad-based patient populations and actively engaging in teaching, mentorship, and scholarly activities within a thriving community‑based medical school setting.

Responsibilities

Clinical Care

  • Provide comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic care for patients with gastrointestinal, hepatic, biliary, and pancreatic disorders, with a focus on improving gastrointestinal health outcomes.
  • Perform diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe and coordinated care.
  • Participate in hospital and community‑based outreach programs to expand access to gastrointestinal healthcare.

Research & Scholarship

  • Engage in clinical research, quality improvement, or public health initiatives related to gastroenterology.
  • Share scholarly efforts through conference presentations and peer‑reviewed publications.

Service & Community Engagement

  • Serve on departmental, college, and university committees.
  • Collaborate with local agencies and community organizations to improve gastrointestinal healthcare delivery and outcomes.
  • Contribute to institutional initiatives aimed at advancing clinical care and community education.

Academic Teaching & Mentorship

Teaching and mentorship are not requirements at this time, but if future opportunities arise, responsibilities may include:

  • Provide high‑quality teaching to medical students, residents, and fellows in clinical and didactic settings.
  • Mentor learners in patient care, clinical reasoning, research methodology, and professional development.
  • Contribute to curriculum development with emphasis on evidence‑based practice and gastrointestinal healthcare.
Minimum Qualifications
  • MD or DO degree from an accredited institution and credentials that merit appointment at the rank of assistant professor or higher.
  • A Florida medical license, or the ability to obtain one, and ABMS Board certification or eligibility in Gastroenterology.
