Job summary

Snoqualmie Valley Health seeks a Gastroenterologist to deliver patient-centered care for disorders of the GI tract, liver, pancreas, and biliary system in both outpatient and hospital settings.

The physician will perform diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy, collaborate with primary care, surgeons, and nursing staff, and contribute to high-quality outcomes while advancing access to specialty care in our community.

Qualifications

  • MD or DO from an accredited medical school.
  • Washington State physician license or ability to obtain before employment.
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Gastroenterology.
  • Completion of Internal Medicine residency and Gastroenterology fellowship.
  • Current DEA registration and BLS certification.
  • ACLS certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive, patient-centered care for GI, liver, pancreas, and biliary disorders in inpatient and outpatient settings.
  • Perform diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures.
  • Collaborate with primary care, surgeons, hospitalists, and nursing staff to coordinate care.
  • Support mission of improving access to specialty care and delivering high-quality outcomes.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Gastroenterologist is responsible for providing comprehensive, patient-centered care for individuals with disorders of the gastrointestinal tract, liver, pancreas, and biliary system. This physician evaluates, diagnoses, treats, and manages a wide range of digestive diseases using evidence-based medicine and advanced endoscopic procedures. The Gastroenterologist collaborates with primary care providers, surgeons, hospitalists, nursing staff, and other specialists to deliver coordinated, high-quality care across both inpatient and outpatient settings. This role supports Snoqualmie Valley Health's mission by promoting wellness, improving access to specialty care, and delivering exceptional clinical outcomes while fostering strong relationships with patients and the community.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited institution.

Licensure & Certification:

  • Current Washington State physician license or ability to obtain prior to employment.
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Gastroenterology.
  • Completion of an accredited Internal Medicine residency and Gastroenterology fellowship.
  • Current DEA registration.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred.
Experience
  • Experience in outpatient and inpatient gastroenterology practice preferred.
  • Experience performing diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures.
  • Experience working within multidisciplinary healthcare teams preferred.
  • Critical Access Hospital experience is desirable but not required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
  • Comprehensive knowledge of gastrointestinal diseases, liver disease, pancreatic disorders, and digestive health.
  • Expertise in diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy.
  • Strong clinical judgment and diagnostic reasoning.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to educate patients with varying levels of health literacy.
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills.
  • Ability to prioritize effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment.
  • Commitment to evidence-based medicine and continuous quality improvement.
  • Proficiency with electronic health records.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with physicians, advanced practice providers, nursing, and ancillary staff.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods while performing procedures.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to perform endoscopic procedures.
  • Ability to lift, push, or move equipment and supplies up to 25 pounds.
  • Visual acuity necessary to perform procedures and interpret diagnostic studies.
  • Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Works in outpatient clinics, endoscopy suites, and hospital settings.
  • May provide inpatient consultations and participate in call coverage.
  • Exposure to infectious diseases, bloodborne pathogens, and bodily fluids requiring adherence to standard precautions.
  • Frequent interaction with patients, families, physicians, nursing staff, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
  • Requires flexibility to meet patient care needs, including occasional evenings, weekends, or holidays based on call responsibilities.
