Job summary

Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, Maine, seeks a Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Gastroenterologist to join its Digestive Health program. The role emphasizes comprehensive gastroenterology care in a hospital-based setting, with opportunities in both inpatient and outpatient environments.

You will collaborate with hospitalists, surgeons, oncology, radiology, and primary care teams, participate in quality initiatives, and maintain EMR documentation.

Qualifications

  • MD or DO from an accredited medical school.
  • Completion of accredited Internal Medicine residency.
  • Completion of accredited Gastroenterology fellowship.
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Gastroenterology.
  • Eligible for or active Maine medical license.
  • DEA registration.
  • BLS and ACLS certification.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive inpatient and outpatient gastroenterology care.
  • Perform diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures, including biopsy and polypectomy, hemostasis and dilation, PEG placement.
  • Diagnose and manage GI conditions including IBD, GERD, liver disease, hepatitis, pancreatic disorders.
  • Participate in a shared call schedule.

This position offers the opportunity to practice comprehensive gastroenterology in a collaborative hospital-based environment, delivering high-quality, patient-centered care in both inpatient and outpatient settings.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive inpatient and outpatient gastroenterology care
  • Perform diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures, including:
  • Biopsy and polypectomy

  • Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD)
  • Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD)
  • Liver disease and hepatitis
