Job summary

Virginia Mason Franciscan Health seeks a Registered Nurse (RN) to deliver compassionate, high‑quality GI nursing care for patients undergoing GI procedures across inpatient, outpatient, Radiology, ED and ICU settings.

You will assess, monitor and intervene for complications, administer medications, oversee sedation/analgesia during endoscopic procedures, and collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to ensure safe discharge planning and optimal patient outcomes.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
• Endoscopy RN with experience in endoscopy.
• Previous GI Lab experience.
• WA State RN license.
• Current American Heart Association BLS certification.
• ACLS certification within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Provide GI procedure nursing care across inpatient, outpatient, Radiology, ED and ICU.
• Assess, diagnose, and intervene in case of complications.
• Monitor sedation/analgesia during endoscopic procedures and respond to calls within 30 minutes.
• Adhere to safety, risk management and regulatory standards; ensure discharge planning.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will be a pivotal healthcare professional, delivering compassionate, high-quality care that truly impacts our patients' well-being and recovery. RN's are responsible for providing GI nursing care of all patient populations undergoing GI procedures to include inpatient, outpatient, and those patients undergoing procedures in Radiology, ED, ICU and throughout the hospital.

• Provides care for patients undergoing a GI procedure.Endoscopy RNs administer and maintain sedation and analgesia by order of the physician.
• Assesses, diagnoses, and intervenes in the event of complications.
• Monitors and assesses the patient receiving the sedation and analgesia throughout diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures.Provides on-call coverage and responds within 30 minutes of call.
• Adheres to the department’s and hospital’s policies and procedures, including safety, risk management and regulatory standards. Keeps abreast of trends, developments and regulatory requirements impacting matters within designated scope of responsibility.
• Administers, oversees and documents the administration of medications (e.g., topically, orally, intramuscularly, subcutaneously and intravenously) as ordered by the healthcare practitioner and in accordance with hospital policy.
• Assesses patient to include physical, psychosocial, cultural, behavioral/emotional, developmental and spiritual needs. Gathers data relevant for patient care. Implements appropriate patient interventions and evaluates outcomes. Plans care appropriately based on needs identified during initial and on-going assessments. Provides holistic, comprehensive, and professional nursing care to patient within the scope of practice. Implements appropriate patient interventions and evaluates outcomes. Prepares patient for discharge and assists with coordinating post discharge needs.

Job Requirements

Required:

• Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
• Endoscopy RN, has experience in endoscopy
• Previous GI Lab experience
• RN License: WA State
• Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS certification
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support, within 90 days

Preferred

• Bachelors Of Science Nursing and One year of related work experience in an acute care setting
• Two years experience within the past three years in an acute care setting, i.e., Med/Surg, ICU, PCU, PACU
• Certified Gastroenterology RN
• Critical RN Adult/Neonatal/Pediatric/Acute
• Certified Emergency Nurse

$47.88 - $91.88 /hour
