Job summary

National Fuel Gas Company is looking for a Gas Utility Operator in the Operations Department at the Tioga Field Office in Mansfield, PA. You will work with a crew to install and maintain pipeline and compressor facilities and operate excavation equipment, primarily a loader/mini-excavator.

The ideal candidate will have experience with mini-excavators, a high school diploma, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to work outdoors in all weather.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

A Gas Utility Operator will work as part of a construction crew and will be responsible for installing and maintaining pipeline and compressor station facilities as well as the operation of excavation equipment, primarily a Loader/Hoe or a Mini-Excavator. In addition, the Gas Utility Operator will assist in other excavation, installation and maintenance operations that include:

• Manual excavation
• Mechanical fitting work
• Lubrication and minor vehicle upkeep
• Maintain manual and electronic operating records and documenting built sketches of work performed
• Jobsite reporting to adjacent Field locations may be required

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Prior experience operating a mini-excavator/loader/backhoe or similar construction equipment and digging around utilities is required
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
• The physical capability to work outdoors in all types of weather and the ability to work in and around hazards and difficult to reach areas is required
• Mechanical aptitude and the ability to troubleshoot technical issues
• Basic literacy is required. Ability to read, legibly prepare written documentation and have the ability to accurately interpret and analyze written information
• Basic computer skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Prior experience in the gas industry with operator qualifications

ADDITIONAL DETAILS:

The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, have a proven track record of good attendance, and committed to workplace safety. Candidates must be able to work Monday - Friday from 7:00 am - 3:30 pm and be available for after-hour call outs. The work shift could also include holidays and overtime.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

This is a position within the Company’s collective bargaining unit with an hourly rate of pay starting at $39.41, after 6 months $40.41, and after 1 year $42.65.
