Job summary

Insight Global is seeking a control software engineer to design and develop DCS-based control software for Gas turbine systems. You will review customer specifications, convert diagrams into control logic blocks and operator screens, and implement algorithms to optimize turbine performance.

Joining a cross-disciplinary team, you will conduct testing, assist in commissioning, and provide training and technical support to customers and field service engineers, while staying current with industry

Qualifications

• Gas Turbine Governor Controls.
• Hydraulic valve positioners and associated instrumentation such as servo coils and LVDTs.
• Gas turbine simulation configuration and testing of Gas Turbine controls software.
• Hydraulic turbine trip schemes and over speed protection systems.
• Configuration and testing of Turbine supervisory instruments like Vibrometer, BN3500, D3000.
• Gas turbine auxiliary systems such as lube oil, control oil, turning gear, etc.
• Turbine automatic startup algorithms.
• Conduct technical reviews and audits to ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop control software for Gas turbine systems.
• Review customer specification and determine project deliverables, identify potential risks.
• Convert SAMA logic diagrams, P&ID drawings, and process narratives into corresponding Distributed Control System (DCS) control logic blocks and operator HMI screens.
• Implement control algorithms and logic to optimize turbine performance and efficiency.
• Support Design Review meetings with customer and Project Manager.
• Conduct software testing and validation to ensure reliability and safety.
• Perform factory acceptance test of control system using closed loop simulation and present to customer.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, and project managers.
• Troubleshoot and resolve software issues in a timely manner.
• Participate in the commissioning and startup of Gas turbine systems.
• Provide technical support and training to customers and field service engineers.
• Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies in control systems and software engineering.
