Job summary

The City of Richmond is seeking a SCADA Specialist to design, develop, deploy, and maintain the Natural Gas SCADA System and related field equipment. The role includes testing, calibration, troubleshooting, and performance optimization within the Gas Distribution Network.

Candidate will lead system improvements, coordinate with internal teams, and train Gas Controllers. Essential duties include security, software administration, and vendor relations for SCADA upgrades.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, Computer Science or Computer Networking.
• Three years of process control experience with SCADA in natural gas distribution or similar system.
• Equivalent combination of training and experience may be accepted.

Responsibilities

• Participates in design/development and implementation of the Natural Gas SCADA System, including hardware and HMI software.
• Advances goals, standards, and reliability of the Gas SCADA System.
• Administers SCADA software programs for DPCs, RTUs, PACs, PLCs and HMIs.
• Serves as technical lead for Gas SCADA improvements and regulatory coordination.
• Leads security, maintenance, repair, and improvements to controls and communications.
• Installs, configures, and modifies hardware/software to increase efficiency and safety.
• Oversees contracts for hardware/software upgrades and predictive maintenance.
• Installs and calibrates flow/pressure/temperature devices within the Gas Distribution System.
• Provides training to Gas Controllers as required.
