Job summary

Marathon Petroleum Company LP is seeking a disciplined operator to manage outside operations of continuous process, storage, loading and unloading systems at an Ohio facility. You will monitor and adjust process equipment, perform routine maintenance, and support control room directives to sustain optimal plant performance. The role requires 12-hour shifts, nights, weekends, and holidays, with a strong emphasis on safety and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Mechanical aptitude and ability to apply principles to machinery
• Ability to read gauges, diagrams and schematics
• Experience with safety procedures and lockout/tagout protocols
• Comfort with performing routine maintenance and inspections
• Ability to interpret and follow process control directions

Responsibilities

• Operate gas treating, absorption, distillation and fractionation equipment.
• Monitor gas compressors, engines, motors and pumps.
• Maintain engine room logs and safety records.
• Perform routine servicing, lubrication and PSM testing.
• Ensure security and safety in the work area and respond to alarms.
• Support maintenance and other groups to optimize plant efficiency.

These duties include performing site checks, adjusting equipment per the direction of the control room and assisting the maintenance and other support groups for optimal efficiency of the plant.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:Responsible for gas treating, absorption, distillation, fractionation, product treating, product gas dehydration, cryogenic and other process equipment.Operates gas compressors, auxiliary engines, motors, and pumps.Prepares engine room logs.Performs servicing, lubrication, and minor maintenance of assigned equipment, including alarms and Process Safety Management (PSM) testing.Handles routine maintenance, safety, and security in work area.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:High school diploma or GED requiredValid Driver’s License requiredMust be able to pass drug test and background checkMust be able to work 12-hour shifts including nights, weekends, and holidaysSKILLS:Mechanical Aptitude: Develops ability to understand and apply mechanical concepts and principles such as, but not limited to, sounds, heat conduction, velocity, gravity, friction, pressure, kinetic and potential energy, etc. when working or using mechanical machinery.Operation Monitoring: Develops ability to watch gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properlyQuality Control Analysis: Develops ability to conduct tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance.Public Safety & Security: Develops knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective local, state, or national security operations for the protection of people, data, property, and institutions.Repairing: Develops knowledge of and ability to repair machines, devices and equipment based on electrical and/or mechanical principles in order to diagnose malfunctions. Conducts tests and inspections to evaluate quality or performance. Watches gauges, dials or other indicators to make sure machine/device/equipment is working properly. Able to read, interpret and engineering drawings, diagrams, and schematics.Safety: Applies in difficult or complex situation’s ability to recognize safety risks in operational activities and use appropriate measures to control and manage identified risks.Safety Awareness: Ability to recognize and identify potential hazards. Evaluates changes in work environment with respect to impact on safety of self and others.
