USIC Locating Services, LLC is seeking outdoorsy individuals for full-time gas-locator roles in Cambridge, MA. You will operate locating equipment, mark utility lines, and support safety guidelines while working in the field with a company vehicle and training.

No prior locating experience is required, but problem solvers who value safety and customer service will thrive. Expect daytime shifts, overtime and on-call duties; extensive field work in varied weather conditions.

Qualifications

• Able and willing to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Available to work overtime, weekends, and on-call shifts as needed.
• Ability to travel locally; some overnight travel may be expected.
• Able to pass a drug screen (safety-sensitive position).
• Valid driver’s license and a safe driving record.
• Able to stand and walk for long periods; lift heavy items up to 75 lbs.
• Able to distinguish between colors used to identify wiring.
• Proficiency with technology.
• Able to read locate tickets, maps and prints; basic math skills.
• Able to communicate clearly with colleagues, customers, contractors, and homeowners.

Our Advanced Gas Operations (AGO) division provides dedicated service to our gas customers. Our technicians spend their workdays on the go, independently working in the field using their company-provided vehicle. We use best-in-class ticket and claims management systems to ensure clear and complete mark-out services for the excavator or property owner at the work site.

Your Responsibilities as a Locator:

• Use locating equipment to determine the location of gas lines in a designated areaand mark the area with paint and flags to prevent damage to utility infrastructure. Some hand digging to unearth gas lines may be required.

• Develop knowledge and understanding of underground utility infrastructure.

• Follow all company, client, state, and federal damage prevention guidelines.

• As a technician in our Advanced Gas Operations division, you may locate otherutilities in addition to gas lines, depending upon the project to which you areassigned.

These are daytime, full-time positions. We have a 48-hour turnaround time on many locates, which means we generally work the day after holidays and some weekends, as needed. Must be able to work overtime, weekend shifts, and on-call shifts (including nights and weekends), dependent upon the needs of the business. Please note that we are currently in startup mode in this area, so weekend work may be frequent until volume normalizes.

What We Need from You (Our Requirements):

• Able and willing to work outdoors in various weather conditions. Previous outdoor experience is a plus.

• Able to communicate clearly with colleagues, customers, contractors, and homeowners. Customer service experience is a plus.
