Eversource Energy in Massachusetts is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design, plan, and oversee gas distribution systems including regulator stations and related infrastructure.
The role entails site layouts, procurement documentation, material specifications, and coordinating construction with customers, regulators, and internal teams, while ensuring adherence to codes and company standards. Travel may be required across MA/CT/NH.

Participates in the planning, development, scheduling, and the performance of engineering assignments related to the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of gas distribution, pressure regulating systems, including standard projects. Applies engineering practices as directed by other team members.
Gas systems include, but are not limited to, regulator stations, telemetry, commercial worker/monitor regulator sets, uprates, distribution main projects and culvert crossings.
Technical Knowledge/Skill:
Thorough knowledge of distribution construction and maintenance work practices and procedures.
Knowledge of applicable governmental code and regulations.
Knowledge of welding and fusing principles.
Working knowledge of environmental requirements affecting related activities.
Familiarity with MS Office and AutoCAD.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or closely related field.
Experience :
Three (3) or more years related experience is required.
Engineering design experience preferred.
Gas experience is preferred.
Licenses & Certifications:
Valid motor vehicle operator license is required.
This position is categorized as safety-sensitive for the purpose of drug testing. Successful applicants shall be subject to a pre-assignment drug test if the individual is currently in a non-safety sensitive position. As an employee in this position the individual shall be subject to random drug testing.
Must be available to work emergency restoration assignment as required.
Must be available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary.
Work is performed primarily in an office environment which requires sitting, standing, walking and climbing stairs are involved.
Field observations will be a required part of this role.
Job can require traveling to operating districts, gas facilities and companies within and outside the state.
Depending on the specific nature of the engineering role, position may require occasional to significant travel by car.
Work includes calculating, comparing, technical writing, editing, planning, evaluating, interpreting, organizing, consulting, analyzing, designing, documenting, specifying, coordinating, implementing and presenting.
This role works in an environment that often requires the performance of multiple simultaneous activities, where deadlines need to be met and work is performed under pressure while involving significant business commitments and results.
