Job summary

Eversource Energy is seeking a field-based worker to install, repair, and inspect gas piping and respond to odor issues in Norwalk, CT. The role involves operating heavy equipment, performing leak surveys, mark outs, and drilling/tapping gas mains. Flexibility for emergency calls and a union environment is required.

Starting pay is $32.26 per hour with eligibility for overtime and safety training. Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED, a valid license, and pass EEI testing.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must complete EEI CAST Test (external candidates).
• Valid driver's license with clean driving record.
• Two years of related experience preferred for helper level.
• Ability to operate a commercial vehicle and meet DOT medical requirements.
• Must be able to wear respirator and perform excavation work.

Responsibilities

• Remove, repair, replace and install gas piping.
• Investigate and repair gas odor complaints.
• Operate pavement breaking and road cutting equipment.
• Operate a backhoe and dump truck.
• Perform walking leak surveys and underground utility mark outs.
• Drill and tap gas mains of various sizes.
• Be available for emergency response with short notice.
