Job summary

TC Energy is seeking a full-time Control Center Operator in the United States (Houston area) to manage the safe operation of gas pipeline systems. You will execute daily operating plans, monitor alarms, and respond to abnormal conditions to ensure reliable service.

The role requires strong math and analytical skills, plus proficiency with MS Office. Qualifications include a high school diploma, possible degree substitution with gas industry experience, and DOT qualification within the required

Qualifications

• This position requires a high school diploma with preference for college/tech diploma.
• 3 years of natural gas industry experience may substitute for a degree.
• Working knowledge of gas hydraulics and compressors.
• DOT Operator Qualification certification within the required timeframe.
• Ability to work rotating 12-hour shifts including nights, weekends and holidays.
• Occasional travel to backup locations in Houston and Bryan, TX.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safe, efficient operation of compressor stations, meter stations and pipelines per daily operating plans.
• Identify and mitigate abnormal operating conditions at facilities.
• Monitor alarms and respond per established protocol.
• Process customer nominations and imbalances impartially.
• Document operational information during shifts and communicate transfer details.
• Assist in troubleshooting control center tools.

Job description

The Opportunity

This full working-level Control Center position will independently follow established methods, Control Room Management Plan (CRM) and procedures to ensure the safe and reliable operation of the U.S. Pipeline systems.

What you\'ll do

• Will ensure the safe and efficient operations of compressor stations, meter stations and pipeline systems at all times through the execution of daily operating plans


• Will identify, analyze, and take appropriate action to mitigate abnormal operating conditions at compressor stations, meter stations and pipeline systems


• Will monitor and respond to alarms as per established protocol


• Will process customer nominations and imbalances in a non-discriminatory manner


• Will follow Document Standard for documenting all relevant operational information during the shift and Responsibility Transfer Procedure to communicate all operationally significant information during shift change


• Will assist in the troubleshooting of various operating tools used in the Control Center

Minimum Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma


• 3 years of natural gas industry experience may be considered in lieu of a college degree.


• Must have a working-level knowledge of gas hydraulics and compressors


• Must obtain D.O.T. Operator Qualification certification through the successful completion of the Company\'s testing and evaluation program within the prescribed timeframe


• Must be able to work rotating 12-hour shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays


• This position requires occasional travel and the ability to operate out of either of our backup locations in Houston and Bryan, TX.


• Must be conscientious, attentive, and able to work well with others in a team environment


• Must possess effective communication skills and the ability to remain calm and focused in stressful situations


• Must possess strong mathematical, analytical and computer skills


• Must be proficient in most Microsoft Office products, especially Excel, Word, and Outlook

Preferred qualifications

• College degree or technical school diploma is preferred
