Job summary

TSMC Arizona is seeking a design-focused engineer to develop and validate gas, chemical, and slurry supply systems tailored to fab requirements. You will analyze drawings, P&IDs, PFDs, and BOMs to ensure safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance, while coordinating 3D BIM models and cross-functional teams on design for constructability.

The role emphasizes hands-on experience in a facilities environment, strong documentation skills with AutoCAD, and collaboration with external contractors

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering or related field.
• Ability to read P&IDs and PFDs and understand gas/chemical supply systems.
• Hands-on plant/facilities environment experience.
• Proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and AutoCAD.

Responsibilities

• Design cutting-edge gas, chemical and slurry supply systems to fab needs.
• Analyze specifications, drawings, P&IDs, PFDs, BOMs for performance and compliance.
• Ensure designs meet IFC, IBC, NFPA, SEMI, ASME where applicable.
• Coordinate 3D BIM models to optimize constructability and space use.
• Collaborate with contractors, vendors, AHJs and internal teams on design needs.
• Lead continuous improvement to refine designs and processes.

Responsibilities

• System Design: Design cutting-edge gas, chemical, and slurry supply systems tailored to fab requirements, ensuring safety and reliability.
• Engineering Input: Analyze equipment specifications, engineering drawings, P&IDs, PFDs, BOMs, and other design-related documents to validate performance, accuracy, and compliance.
• Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all designs meet applicable codes, standards, and regulations (e.g., IFC, IBC, NFPA, SEMI, ASME).
• 3D BIM Coordination: Oversee the development and integration of facility 3D BIM models to optimize system constructability and spatial utilization.
• Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate with external stakeholders (contractors, vendors, AHJs, engineers of records) and internal teams (facility operations, fab construction/design, procurement) to ensure satisfaction and alignment on design requirements.
• Continuous Improvement: Lead initiatives to refine system designs, enhance efficiency, and implement change management strategies.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
• Strong understanding of fluid control, supply, and distribution systems including piping, valves, PLCs, tanks, regulators, sensors, filters, piping connections, etc..
• Hands‑on experience in a plant or facilities environment
• Ability to read P&IDs, PFDs, and understanding of gas/chemical supply systems, equipment operating principles, and fundamental operational skills.
• Proficiency in design and documentation tools such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and AutoCAD.

Preferred Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in the facilities semiconductor industry or related industries (e.g., oil & gas, chemical processing, mission‑critical facilities, aerospace).
• Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) certification or Professional Engineer (PE) licensure preferred.
• Familiarity with permitting of systems with AHJ (authority having jurisdiction)
• Experience designing process systems containing hazardous chemicals and gases

Physical Requirements

• Applicant is expected to be willing and able to work in a manufacturing facility or chemical processing facility environment.

Candidates must be willing and able to work on-site at our Phoenix Arizona facility.

Standard work hours: Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM or 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM
