Job summary

The City of Springfield (MO) is seeking Gardeners to join Public Grounds within the Public Works and Parks Department. This role focuses on design, planting and maintenance of vegetation along city grounds and rights‑of‑way to enhance safety and quality of life.

Attendance is Monday through Friday, with duties tied to urban beautification projects. Applicants should have three years’ related experience and relevant coursework; licenses and certifications as described are required or obtained

Qualifications

• Three years of work experience in arboriculture, horticulture, forestry, or a related field.
• Completion of 23 hours of horticulture, forestry or related coursework from an accredited college or university may be substituted for two years experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist with design, planning, planting and management of vegetation along city right‑of‑ways and facility grounds.
• Support beautification projects and maintenance to ensure safe, high‑quality urban landscapes.
• Hours are Monday through Friday and may include seasonal or assignment‑based duties.
