About the Job

This position reports to the Landcare Maintenance Supervisor and is responsible for performing landscape maintenance and construction on the Twin Cities Campus.

Responsibilities

• Perform turf care, including pesticide application, fertilizing, aerating, and mowing.
• Repair, maintain, and adjust irrigation equipment.
• Plant and maintain various flora and prepare beds.
• Perform snow removal using various equipment.
• Operate landscape machinery and equipment safely.
• Lead and train a crew of student employees in gardening duties and safety procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

This job may be designated as essential and involves outdoor work in various weather conditions, including extended winter hours for snow removal. It is a year-round, full-time Teamster Unit 3 position, with benefits and union deductions. Probationary period is 720 hours.

Qualifications

• Minimum: AA in horticulture or related field with 1 year of experience, or high school diploma with 3 years of relevant experience. Valid driver’s license required. Pesticide license required within 30 days of hire.
• Essential: Regular attendance.
• Skills & Abilities: Knowledge of horticultural practices, safe operation of landscape equipment, physical ability to perform duties, computer and communication skills, team leadership, and customer service skills.

Pay and Benefits

Pay range: $27.70-$31.46/hr depending on qualifications. 75%-100% appointment. Benefits include competitive wages, paid holidays, health plans, retirement, tuition benefits, and more. For details, visit the University’s HR website.
