Job summary

Sunshine Disposal & Recycling is hiring a full-time Refuse Service Truck Driver in Addy, WA. The role involves operating front/side load trucks and roll-off trucks on residential and commercial routes, with on-the-job training provided. A CDL and DOT medical card are required, plus a clean driving record.

The schedule is Monday–Friday, 4:00am–12:30pm, with potential seasonal overtime. Starting wage is $27.50/hr, with $0.50 increases at 6, 12, and 18 months, plus COLA from 2027.

Qualifications

• CDL Class A or B with no Air Brake restriction.
• Must be licensed for Manual and Automatic Transmissions.
• USDOT Medical Certificate (med card) required.
• Insurability and DOT drug screening compliance.
• Two years of CDL Class A or B driving experience required.
• Basic computer literacy is required and OJT provided.

Responsibilities

• Operate front load and side load refuse trucks and roll off trucks on residential and commercial routes.
• Maintain daily route data and complete tablet documentation.
• Communicate route information with office and other drivers.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections and report maintenance needs.
• Attend required meetings and perform other duties as assigned.

This job has a $500 Bonus after 6 months of employment and $1000 after 12 months of employment. Sunshine Disposal & Recycling has an opening for a full time Refuse Service Truck Driver in our Addy, WA business unit. Job duties include operation of front load and side load refuse collection trucks and roll off style dump trucks in residential and commercial locations. Basic computer literacy is required, and OJT is provided for industry specific programs. Class A or B CDL, Air Brake Certificate and valid DOT medical card are required. Applicants must meet insurability requirements and comply with US DOT drug screening rules. Two (2) years of CDL Class A or B driving experience required.

This is a full time, day shift job Monday-Friday and shift time is 4:00am-12:30pm. Some seasonal overtime may be available but is not guaranteed. Starting wage is $27.50 per hour, and this job includes fifty cents ($.50) per hour wage increases at 6, 12 and 18 months of employment, as well as annual COLA beginning in 2027. Sunshine Disposal & Recycling operates a modern fleet of vehicles. Our fleet uses driver-friendly onboard computers (tablet style), GPS technology and latest vehicle camera technology- outward and cab facing.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform each of the essential duties/responsibilities listed below.

1. Arrives to work on time and receives paperwork and tablet data for daily route. Performs pre-trip inspection of the truck to make sure everything is operating correctly, and maintenance is not necessary. When truck is in working order, leaves facility and commences route services.
2. Drives truck on fixed route on a weekly basis collecting refuse, recycling, or organics debris from carts, cans and/or containers using the hydraulic equipment on the truck. Will also have to load by lifting any extra bags/boxes/cans into carts to dispose. Using tablet and/or paper, documents all extras/not outs, damaged carts for customer accounts.
3. Communicates effectively throughout the day with the office and other drivers regarding route information and/or customer communication.
4. Dumps the truck at the end of the day and cleans out truck body and cab.
5. Conducts a Post-trip inspection of the truck each day and lets Mechanic know of any maintenance areas necessary.
6. Attends all necessary meetings at Sunshine Disposal & Recycling as required.
7. Performs all other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Class A or B CDL

Physical Abilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to:

• Regularly (5+ hours per day) sit, stand, see, hear, walk, reach, grasp, fine finger manipulation, wrist flexion, operate foot and hand controls,
• Frequently (3-4 hours per day) climb, bend, pull/push (up to 60 pounds)
• Occasionally (1-2 hours per day) Lift (up to 60 pounds), crawl, stoop/crouch, twist
• Clearly see 20+ feet, with or without corrective lenses and differentiate between colors.
