The State of Nebraska, Turpin Outdoor Education Center in Lincoln, NE is seeking a Firearm Range Safety Officer to oversee weekly public open shoot hours, ensure strict range safety standards, supervise shooting line activities, and provide top-notch customer service to visitors and shooters of varying experience levels.

Availability is Saturdays 12:00 PM–6:00 PM with potential additional hours based on facility needs. Must hold or obtain NRA RSO certification and be at least 21 years old.

Qualificações

Job Description

Schedule: Saturdays, 12:00 PM – 6:00 PM (6 hours/week required; additional hours available based on schedule and facility needs)

The Turpin Outdoor Education Center is seeking a reliable, safety-focused individual to serve as a Firearm Range Safety Officer (RSO). In this role, you will oversee weekly public open shoot hours, maintain strict range safety standards, supervise shooting line activities, and provide outstanding customer service to facility visitors and target shooters of all experience levels.

Key Responsibilities

• Safety & Range Supervision: Serve as the primary RSO on duty. Conduct mandatory safety briefings, monitor active shooting lanes, enforce range safety protocols, and address unsafe behaviors immediately.

• Visitor & Customer Service: Greet patrons, answer inquiries regarding facility policies and firearm regulations, and help foster a welcoming, inclusive environment for all shooters.

• Facility Support: Maintain cleanliness on the line, assist with opening/closing duties, and support operational needs as requested.

Requirements/ Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

At least three months experience working in a recreational area, scenic attraction, hospitality, historical, retail or customer service setting, agricultural setting, or related coursework/training.

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
• Comfortable exercising professional authority to ensure absolute safety on the firing line.
• Experience interacting with the public in an educational or recreational setting.

Other

• Age: Must be at least 21 years old.

• Certification: Current NRA Range Safety Officer (RSO) certification required (or ability to obtain certification upon hire).

Availability

Must be available to work every Saturday from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM. (Additional hours during the week/weekend may be offered based on your availability and facility operational needs.)
