Position Title

Game-Help Announcer

Position Goal

To increase fan interest and enjoyment by announcing pertinent game information, introducing athletes, coaches, and officials, as well as making other needed public address announcements.

Essential Functions

• Arrive 30 minutes prior to game time.
• Follow the directions of the official and all appropriate PIAA and BCIAA League rules.
• Make appropriate pre‑game announcements regarding PIAA, BCIAA League, and District Policies.
• Make appropriate pre‑game introductions of players, coaches, and officials.
• Make timely and accurate announcements regarding game information (scores, statistics, fouls, penalties, etc.).
• Make timely and accurate announcements regarding substitutions and personnel.

Supervisory Responsibilities

None

Qualification Requirements

• Ability to speak and communicate clearly and effectively.
• Ability to use various public address systems.
• Understanding of the game for which one serves as announcer.
• Demonstrated ability to read rehearsed and new material aloud with minimal mistakes.
• Strong public speaking voice.
• Public Address experience (preferred).

Physical/Mental/Environmental Demands

Physical Demands: Sitting for three hours.
Sensory Abilities: Visual acuity to read text and observe games.
Temperament: Must be courteous and able to deal effectively with people. Must be cooperative.
Mental Demands: Ability to interpret detailed written and verbal communication. Ability to function in a fast‑paced high‑pressure work setting. High degree of patience and tolerance.
Environment: Inside the RSD high school and middle school buildings. Outside on the RSD high school and middle school athletic fields.

Evaluation

Performance is evaluated by the Athletic Director.
