BlockReel is seeking a talented Gaffer for an independent pilot production in New York City. The role requires creative lighting solutions, a collaborative approach, and strong on-set reliability.

You will work with the DP to shape the visual narrative and manage a small crew throughout approximately 10–12 shooting days in late November 2026. You should have 3–5 pilot or short film credits, bring your own basic G&E kit, and expect 10–12 hour shoot days with meals and local transport provided.

Qualifications

• At least a mid-level gaffer with credits on pilots/short films.
• Ability to design and execute lighting plots.
• Strong collaboration with DP and crew.

Responsibilities

• Design and execute lighting plots for the pilot/short film.
• Lead a small grip and electric team on set.
• Ensure safe operation and handling of lighting equipment.
• Collaborate closely with the DP to achieve the desired look.
• Bring a basic G&E kit; larger gear provided on set.
