Job summary

Phyton Talent Advisors seeks an experienced FX Operations & Settlements Specialist to support end-to-end settlement, payment processing, and reconciliation of FX transactions. You will handle Spot FX, FX Forwards, Swaps, NDFs, and related cash movements within Derivative Operations.

Responsibilities include validating and settling trades, monitoring queues, investigating discrepancies, and producing reporting.

Qualifications

  • Experience in Foreign Exchange operations, settlements, trade support, treasury operations, or middle office within a financial services environment.
  • Strong understanding of the FX trade lifecycle, including trade capture, confirmations, settlements, payments, netting, value dates, maturities, amendments, and cancellations.
  • Familiarity with platforms and utilities such as SWIFT, CLS, Bloomberg, FXall, 360T, Alert, Misys/Finastra, Murex, and correspondent banking systems.
  • Strong understanding of settlement risk, operational controls, and exception management.
  • Ability to manage high-volume activity and strict currency cut-off deadlines in a fast-paced trading environment.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Excel and experience working with financial systems, reconciliation tools, and payment platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Validate, process, and settle FX transactions, including Spot FX, FX Forwards, FX Swaps, NDFs, NDS, and related cash flows.
  • Manage daily settlement activities, including payment release, receipt monitoring, netting, CLS and non-CLS settlements, maturities, and value date processing.
  • Monitor trade bookings, confirmations, settlement and payment queues, and exception reports.
  • Investigate discrepancies and drive settlement breaks through resolution.
  • Reconcile FX activity and cash movements across internal systems, correspondent banks, custodians, brokers, clearing utilities, and counterparties.
  • Monitor CLS and non-CLS activity and resolve unmatched trades or payment issues ahead of market and currency cut-off deadlines.
  • Investigate failed settlements, payment rejections, cash breaks, claims, and fail-to-receive/fail-to-pay items.
  • Partner with Front Office, Middle Office, Treasury, Finance, Technology, Compliance, and external counterparties to resolve issues.
  • Produce daily and weekly reporting on failed settlements, aged breaks, exposures, and delayed payments.
  • Escalate high-risk exposures, disputed claims, unresolved settlement issues, and potential payment delays as appropriate.
  • Support audit, regulatory, controls testing, and management reporting requirements.
  • Identify opportunities to improve settlement workflows, strengthen controls, reduce manual intervention, and increase straight-through processing.

Job description

This role will focus primarily on Spot FX, FX Forwards, FX Swaps, NDFs, NDS, and related cash movements.
