Job Description

PRIMARY PURPOSE: Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in person and/or via virtual instruction in the assigned subject area, designed to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Education/Certification: Bachelor's degree from an accredited university; Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for the assigned subject/level.

Special Knowledge/Skills

• Knowledge of assigned curriculum and instructional methods

Minimum Experience

University/college required student teaching or approved internship.

Instructional Management

• Develop and implement lesson plans for in‑person and virtual learning that fulfill district curriculum requirements and show written evidence of preparation.
• Prepare lessons that accommodate individual student differences.
• Plan and use appropriate instructional strategies, activities, materials, equipment, and technology reflecting learning styles and needs.
• Present subject matter following Texas Education Agency guidelines, board policies, and department regulations.
• Employ diverse instructional techniques and media consistent with student group needs.
• Collaborate with staff to implement instructional goals and methods.
• Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula according to IEP guidelines.
• Plan and supervise purposeful assignments for teacher aides or volunteers.
• Use technology to support teaching and learning.

Student Growth and Development

• Assist students in analyzing and improving study methods.
• Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formative and summative assessments and track progress.
• Assume responsibility for assigned extracurricular activities and sponsor approved outside activities.
• Serve as a positive role model supporting the district’s mission.
• Create conducive in‑person and virtual classroom environments.

Classroom Management and Organization

• Establish effective classroom management and administer discipline in accordance with policies.
• Take precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
• Assist in selecting books, equipment, and instructional materials.

Communication

• Maintain open lines of communication with students and parents via phone, email, or video conferencing.
• Communicate regularly with district personnel, students, and parents.
• Maintain professional relationships with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
• Use clear communication skills to present information accurately.
