Job summary

Collaborative ABA Services, LLC in Middletown, CT, seeks a Lead Behavior Technician to work under BCBA supervision and deliver 1:1 ABA services to children and adolescents across clinic, home, school, and community settings.

You will support the BCBA with program implementation, help train staff, collect data, and ensure high-quality client care while following treatment protocols. RBT certification is preferred but not required; opportunity for growth.

Qualifications

The Lead Behavior Technician (Lead BT) works under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and provides high-quality, individualized Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) services to children and adolescents ages 2–18 across clinic, home, school, and community settings.

In addition to providing direct 1:1 ABA services, the Lead BT serves as a clinical support and team leadership resource within the clinic preschool program. The Lead BT assists the BCBA with day-to-day program implementation, supports team members in following treatment protocols, helps ensure staff have the materials and resources needed to provide effective services, and promotes consistency and quality across the treatment team.

The Lead BT is responsible for implementing individualized skill‑acquisition programs and behavior intervention plans developed by the supervising BCBA, collecting and documenting accurate clinical data, supporting staff training and competency development, and communicating relevant client and team updates to supervisory staff.

The Lead BT does not independently develop treatment plans, modify clinical programs, or provide clinical supervision and is expected to follow all treatment protocols and supervisory direction provided by the BCBA.

Direct Clinical Services

• Provide individualized 1:1 ABA services to children and adolescents ages 2–18 in clinic, home, school, and community settings.
• Implement skill‑acquisition programs, behavior intervention plans, and other treatment protocols as directed by the supervising BCBA.
• Maintain active engagement with clients throughout treatment sessions while promoting skill development, independence, communication, and positive behavior.
• Accurately collect and document behavioral and skill‑acquisition data using electronic data collection systems.
• Assist the BCBA with preference assessments, skill assessments, and other clinical activities as assigned.
• Follow all safety, crisis‑management, ethical, and clinical procedures.

Lead & Team Support

• Support the BCBA in coordinating the day‑to‑day implementation of the clinic preschool program when assigned.
• Assist with facilitating classroom routines, curriculum activities, transitions, and group programming.
• Serve as a resource and support to Behavior Technicians and RBTs implementing client programs.
• Assist with onboarding, modeling, and training staff on ABA procedures and client‑specific treatment protocols.
• Support staff in achieving competency and treatment fidelity through modeling, feedback, and ongoing coaching under BCBA direction.
• Help ensure staff have appropriate materials, programming resources, and information needed to provide quality services.
• Communicate concerns regarding client progress, staff implementation, attendance, safety, or treatment barriers to the supervising BCBA.
• Promote a collaborative, professional, and supportive team environment.
• Model professional conduct, ethical practice, and high‑quality client care.

Qualifications

Education

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Applied Behavior Analysis, Psychology, Social Work, Speech and Language, Child Development, Special Education, or a related field preferred.
• Equivalent experience may be considered based on qualifications and clinical experience.

Experience

• Previous experience providing ABA services to children and/or adolescents with autism or other developmental disabilities required.
• Experience working with children with complex behavioral or developmental needs preferred.
• Previous experience in a classroom, preschool, school, or clinical setting preferred.
• Previous experience mentoring, training, or supporting other Behavior Technicians preferred.
• Experience with classroom management and group programming preferred.
• RBT certification preferred but not required. Collaborative ABA Services may provide training and support toward RBT certification for qualified candidates.

Availability & Transportation

• Ability to work during clinic hours and/or daytime and after‑school hours based on client and program needs.
• Flexibility to support the clinic preschool program and provide services across assigned settings as needed.
• Reliable transportation and valid automobile insurance required for positions requiring travel between service locations.
