Job summary

Linamar Corporation is seeking a Furnace Tech in Fletcher, North Carolina. The role involves setting up and operating the Mag Cell used in production processes, performing routine maintenance, and troubleshooting alarms and furnace faults.

Ideal candidates should be high school graduates with 2-4 years of manufacturing experience. Crane and forklift certifications are required. Successful candidates will demonstrate effective communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Qualifications

• Two to four years of manufacturing experience preferred.
• Experience with High Pressure Die Casting is a plus.

Job description

Under general supervision, responsible for the set‑up and operation of Mag Cell used in production processes. Work from verbal or written instructions, diagrams, or models. Shift between activities as production demands, determine and correct more complex machine malfunctions. Perform routine maintenance and cleaning.

Furnace Tech

Under general supervision, responsible for the set‑up and operation of Mag Cell used in production processes. Work from verbal or written instructions, diagrams, or models. Shift between activities as production demands, determine and correct more complex machine malfunctions. Perform routine maintenance and cleaning.

Performance Expectations

• Support, Foster, Promote and Demonstrate Linamar’s Core Values and Leadership Behaviors.
• Support and maintain department lean initiatives.
• Maintain department 5S requirements.
• Clean and maintain Mg furnaces.
• Maintain furnace equipment, thermal couples and BBS probes.
• Monitor and troubleshoot alarms.
• Troubleshoot furnace faults.
• Furnace repairs to keep the furnaces maintained and running.
• Empty and replace dross bins.
• Fill flux containers.
• Maintain furnace tools and PAPR.
• Complete all required paperwork.

Credentials

• High School Graduate or equivalent.
• Two to Four years of manufacturing experience a plus.
• High Pressure Die Casting a plus.

• Ability to work independently when needed.
• Must be a team player and work with the team, which includes mechanics, machinists, fellow operators, and management to ensure that machines are used efficiently, and work priorities are well managed.
• Ability to learn new specifications and procedures through on-the-job training and experience.
