Job summary

STS Aerospace is seeking an assembler to prepare and assemble tubes and metal components for furnace cycles under supervision. You will read work orders and drawings, then perform precision assembly tasks with accuracy and efficiency.

You will stand for extended periods, lift up to 25 pounds, and use precision measurement tools to verify tolerances. Maintaining a clean FOD-free workspace and attending safety trainings are required.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings.
  • Experience using precision measurement tools and basic math.
  • Good communication and ability to work in a team or independently.

Responsibilities

  • Read work orders and production drawings to run production through furnace cycles.
  • Position and align parts in fixtures or jigs.
  • Join components with stake, resist, tack, or cement processes.
  • Adjust components to meet dimensional specifications.
  • Load/unload furnace and verify proper operation and settings.
  • Perform tests and inspections to ensure production standards.

Job description

Under the general direction of the Manufacturing Supervisor, this position is responsible for the preparation and assembly of tubes and various metal components for furnace cycles. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Reads work orders, follows production drawings, method sheets, and operating procedures to run production volume through vacuum furnace cycles.
  • Positions and aligns parts in specified relationship to each other in jig, fixture, or other holding devices.
  • Stake, resist, tack, cement, press fits, or performs similar operations to join or secure parts in place.
  • Adjusts materials from components to achieve specified dimensional characteristics.
  • Loads and unloads furnace, establishes correct settings, and makes necessary adjustments to ensure proper furnace operation.
  • Performs tests and inspections to ensure proper production specifications and standards are met.
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear.
  • Frequently lifts and/or moves up to 10 pounds and occasionally lifts and/or moves up to 25 pounds.
  • Requires close vision and ability to adjust focus.
  • Consistently, regularly, and dependably arrives at work and on time.
  • Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Requirements

Education: High School diploma or equivalent GED; or six months to one year of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
