Role Description

This full-time, on-site Funeral Director / Embalmer role is based in Slidell, LA. The Funeral Director / Embalmer will arrange and coordinate funeral and memorial services, meeting with families to discuss service options, preferences, and necessary documentation. Daily tasks include preparing decedents through embalming and restorative work, overseeing visitations, funeral ceremonies, and graveside services, and ensuring that all regulatory and legal requirements are met. The role also involves managing logistics such as scheduling, transportation, and coordination with cemeteries and other service providers, while maintaining a professional and compassionate presence. The individual in this role will support families with clear communication, emotional sensitivity, and respectful guidance throughout the entire process.

Qualifications

• Professional expertise in embalming and preparation of decedents, with attention to safety, hygiene, and regulatory standards.
• Experience in funeral home operations, including planning services, coordinating logistics, and maintaining facilities.
• Background in family services, with the ability to support individuals and families through grief with empathy and discretion.
• Strong communication and customer service skills, including active listening, clear verbal and written communication, and a client-centered approach.
• Valid state licensure as a Funeral Director and Embalmer (or eligibility to obtain), and knowledge of state and federal funeral service regulations.
