Job summary

Almond Partners in San Francisco is seeking an Assistant Fund Controller to own fund accounting, LP reporting, and capital account statements across multiple venture funds. You will drive the rollout of an AI-native fund administration platform and automate finance workflows while partnering with the Head of Finance on strategic portfolio initiatives.

The role requires 3–5+ years in fund accounting or related fields, a bachelor’s degree, and a drive to leverage AI tools to transform finance

Qualifications

• 3–5+ years of relevant experience in fund accounting, fund administration, VC/PE finance, or finance implementation at an AI-native startup.
• Fund exposure with capital calls, distributions, NAV, management fees, and fund financial statements.
• Experience automating or rebuilding a finance workflow and a passion for AI tools.

We are a mission-driven venture capital fund backing founders tackling major challenges in climate, health, food, and space and looking to hire an Assistant Fund Controller due to tremendous growth at our firm. You’ll own fund accounting and LP reporting across seven venture funds while leading the implementation of an AI-native fund administration platform and automating finance workflows. Working directly with the Head of Finance, you’ll help build the finance function - not just maintain existing systems.

What you’ll do

• Own fund accounting, LP reporting, and capital account statements across multiple funds.
• Lead the implementation and calibration of an AI-native fund finance platform.
• Automate repetitive finance workflows using Excel macros, Power Query, SQL, Python, Airtable, AI tools, or similar technologies.
• Maintain accurate investment data, valuations, and portfolio company records.
• Partner with the Head of Finance on strategic projects, portfolio initiatives, and investment acquisitions.

What we’re looking for

• 3-5+ years of relevant experience in fund accounting, fund administration, VC/PE finance, investment fund audit, or finance implementation at an AI-native startup.
• Fund exposure and a strong understanding of capital calls, distributions, NAV, management fees, and fund financial statements.
• Experience automating or rebuilding a finance workflow.
• Hands‑on experience with - or genuine enthusiasm for - AI tools and finance automation.
• A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
• Interest in deep tech, science, and investing for impact.
• Ability to work in San Francisco.
