Job summary

Stone Coast Fund Services Ltd. is seeking a Senior Fund Accountant to join our Fund Accounting team. This role is responsible for recording and reconciling portfolio activity, calculating NAV and preparing investor reports.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years hedge fund accounting experience, strong Excel skills, and a four-year degree in Accounting, Finance or Economics. Remote options are available for qualified U.S. residents.

Qualifications

• Three+ years of experience in fund accounting for hedge funds.
• Proficient liaison with fund managers and service providers.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office; advanced Excel skills (formulas, pivot tables).

Responsibilities

• Record and reconcile all portfolio and fund activity for assigned clients.
• Calculate NAV adhering to industry standards and internal procedures.
• Allocate profits/losses and calculate management and performance fees.
• Process and record fund expense payments and ensure timely wire requests.
• Generate and deliver fund and investor reports to managers and investors.
• Prepare materials for board meetings, financial statements and audits.
• Communicate with internal and external entities to ensure service levels.
• Review NAV and investor statements for accuracy against standards.
• Mentor and support fund accountants.
• Ensure tasks are completed accurately and timely.

Job description

We are offering flexible scheduling options to support both end-of-day coverage and local hiring needs. This role may be structured as a full-time position working approximately 12:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. EST, or as a part-time opportunity solely for candidates based in Maine.

The Position

As a member of the Fund Accounting team, this position is responsible for the following:

• Record and reconcile all portfolio and fund activity for assigned clients
• Calculate the fund’s NAV adhering to industry standards and internal procedures
• Allocate profit and loss to investors including the calculation of management and performance fees
• Process and record fund expense payments and ensure cash wire requests are completed accurately and timely
• Generate and deliver fund and investor reports to fund managers and investors of assigned clients
• Prepare and deliver supporting materials as necessary for board meetings, financial statements and audit and regulatory requests related to assigned clients
• Communication with internal and external entities to ensure best in class service levels; build relationships of cooperation
• Review fund’s net asset value (NAV), investor statements and other work prepared by accountants for completeness and accuracy measuring against industry standards and internal procedures
• Mentor, train, and support fund accountants
• Assure fund accounting tasks are completed accurately and timely

Qualifications and Experience

The ideal candidate has the following:

• The ideal candidate will have three or more years of experience in fund accounting for hedge funds and will be comfortable and proficient acting as a primary liaison with fund managers and other fund service providers
• Familiarity with the types of investments held by hedge funds a plus
• Experience working with portfolio and investor accounting systems, in particular Advent Geneva World Investor a plus
• Experience working in an environment with internal control procedures, operating procedures, workflows, control checklists, and other elements of an internal control system a plus
• Experience with financial reporting, information security and client, vendor, and risk management a plus
• Must be able to learn complicated concepts quickly
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office is essential, advanced Excel (formulas, pivot tables, and filtering) are a must.

Education Requirements

• Four-year college degree preferably in Accounting, Finance, Business Management or Economics

Compensation

• The expected salary range for this role is $70,000 – $105,000.
• The actual salary will be determined based on a variety of factors, including relevant experience, skills, education, specific responsibilities and assignments, and internal equity considerations.
• This position is also eligible for a discretionary bonus based on individual and company performance.
