Job summary

Pentangle Tech Services | P5 Group in Michigan is seeking a seasoned Functional Safety Engineer to coordinate ISO 26262 activities across SW/HW subsystems. You will provide technical guidance, evaluate safety concepts, and interface with customers and auditors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering or Electrical/Electronics/Mechatronics or related field.
• Several years of professional experience in automotive software development or similar.
• Awareness of Functional Safety Standards (ISO 26262, IEC 61508) and Product Liability.
• HW/SW know-how on the automotive system (Chassis Systems Control & embedded).
• Design, coding, and validation experience in automotive safety monitoring.
• Ability to foresee and manage risks; strong problem-solving skills.
• Good English communication; able to work with cross-functional teams.
• Able to handle requirements beyond software.

Responsibilities

• Plans / coordinates / tracks all ISO26262 functional safety activities in the project in the relevant phases.
• Provides technical consultation for the project team members or for the creation of safety concepts and evaluation of validation and safety test cases.
• Communicates and represents functional safety topics to the project team, the customer, and to auditors if required.
• Aligns on planning of all functional safety activities at sub-system level (SW/HW/Components).
• Aligns on functional safety related activities at other technologies or fields of development.
• Recommend necessary solutions to the customer for meeting safety requirements and safety goals.
• Managing different stakeholders to derive inputs for the safety case.
• Support in tailoring of safety processes.
