Job summary

Vertex Pharmaceuticals Incorporated seeks a motivated co-op in Functional Genomics to support gene-editing projects and disease-relevant assays. You will generate gene-edited cellular models, perform screening, and analyze data to guide target validation and mechanism-of-action studies.

Successful candidates are pursuing an advanced degree in biology-related fields, with hands-on cell culture and molecular biology experience; strong data analysis skills and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a master's degree or PhD in biology, biochemistry, genetics, computational biology, or related field.
• Hands-on experience with human cell culture/tissue culture required.
• Familiarity with basic molecular biology methods (PCR and cloning).
• Strong interest in genetics, genomics, and gene-editing technologies.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to study planning and oversee experimental activities per protocols.
• Collaborate on experiments using disease-relevant human cell models; analyze data and summarize findings.
• Maintain accurate records of methods and results in electronic lab notebook.
• Present results clearly to Functional Genomics team and cross-functional partners.
