Key Responsibilities
- Understand, analyze and review the assigned state filing process, including but not limited to developing rates, trend analysis, and preparing documentation for Delivery of Insurance (DOI) requirements.
- Coordinate and respond to any DOI objections, and obtain sign‑off from the Lead Actuary.
- Independently apply complex technical and actuarial methodologies to complete unstructured projects.
- Ensure quality of data used for trend analysis, translate business problems into technical requirements, run models, and communicate results to support business activities.
- Utilize actuarial, mathematical or statistical techniques to augment actuarial work product.
- Apply understanding of supported products, stakeholder needs, and industry trends to solve unstructured business problems.
- Identify compliance gaps and process improvements, recommend and develop solutions.
- Lead unit initiatives and participate in cross‑functional efforts as a technical subject‑matter expert.
- Effectively communicate insights and solutions to all audiences, including executive leadership.
- Synthesize complex information into a clear and influential value proposition.
- Ensure risks associated with business activities are identified, measured, monitored and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- Must have ACAS/FCAS designation or an equivalent designation in another actuarial society.
- Minimum of 10+ years of actuarial experience, with P&C insurance and state filing experience (DOI) preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science or related field; 5 years of related actuarial/business/analytical experience may substitute for a degree.
- Demonstrated competency with actuarial, mathematical and statistical techniques supporting fact‑based decision making.
- Intermediate knowledge of data analysis tools and data visualization, and experience developing analysis queries and procedures in Python, SQL or similar software.
- Ability to connect external insights to business problems and communicate complex solutions to technical and non‑technical audiences.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and other office productivity tools.
- Experience with actuarial software suite, preferably by the relevant provider.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Visual Studio, SQL Server, and other industry software.
