Job summary

WSP USA is seeking a Functional Architect to lead functional design across Project Portfolio Management using Oracle Fusion PPM. You will bridge Business Architecture, Process Leadership, SMEs, and delivery teams to ensure scalable, standardized solutions aligned to the Global Target Operating Model.

Responsibilities include defining functional rules, leading governance, supporting testing and deployments, and guiding stakeholders across regions to optimize project lifecycle, ERP

Qualifications

  • 12+ years of relevant experience in functional architecture or senior solution design.
  • Strong functional expertise in Project Portfolio Management processes and Oracle Fusion PPM.
  • Proven ability to lead design governance, workshops, and stakeholder alignment.

Job Description
Role Purpose

The Functional Architect provides functional design leadership across Project Portfolio Management capabilities, ensuring business requirements, business processes, and system functionality are translated into coherent, scalable, and globally standardised solutions.

The role acts as the bridge between Business Architecture, Process Leadership, Subject Matter Experts, Delivery teams, and Oracle Fusion solution design. The Functional Architect is accountable for functional integrity, ensuring solutions align to the Global Target Operating Model, support business outcomes, and remain sustainable over the long term.

Functional Solution Design
  • Translate approved business requirements and process designs into detailed functional solution designs.
  • Define functional rules, business logic, process flows, data requirements, and solution behaviours.
  • Ensure functional solutions remain aligned to enterprise process standards and target operating models.
  • Identify opportunities for simplification, standardisation, and reuse across regions and business functions.
Functional Architecture Leadership
  • Act as the functional design authority for assigned business capabilities and Oracle Fusion modules.
  • Provide expert guidance on Oracle capability and solution options.
  • Assess impacts, risks, dependencies, and trade-offs associated with design decisions.
  • Ensure functional decisions consider upstream and downstream process implications across the end-to-end process landscape.
  • Partner with Business Architects, Global Process Owners, and Global Process Leads to ensure solution alignment with the Global Target Operating Model.
  • Ensure process intent is accurately reflected within functional solution design.
  • Challenge requirements and design assumptions where improvements in standardisation, scalability, or operational efficiency can be achieved.
  • Support design governance forums and decision‑making processes.
Delivery and Change Support
  • Provide functional leadership throughout design, build, testing, deployment, and stabilisation activities.
  • Review solution configuration against approved functional requirements and design intent.
  • Support business testing, defect resolution, and functional issue triage.
  • Assess the impact of Oracle quarterly releases, enhancements, and change requests.
Governance and Assurance
  • Participate in design reviews, architecture reviews, and governance forums.
  • Ensure solutions comply with global standards, approved design principles, and architectural decisions.
  • Support creation of functional specifications, design documentation, and decision records.
  • Provide assurance that functional designs remain aligned to business objectives throughout delivery.
Stakeholder Engagement
  • Work closely with SMEs, regional stakeholders, Finance, Operations, Shared Services, Business Architecture, IT, and Delivery teams.
  • Facilitate workshops and design sessions to obtain clarity and consensus on complex topics.
  • Translate technical solution concepts into business language that supports informed decision making.
  • Build strong relationships across business and technology communities.

Essential Experience and Capability Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent
  • 12+ years relevant experience
  • Strong functional expertise within Project Portfolio Management processes and Oracle Fusion PPM.
  • Demonstrated experience operating as a Functional Architect, Lead Functional Consultant, or senior solution design practitioner.
  • Strong understanding of end-to-end project lifecycle processes including project setup, forecasting, cost management, billing, revenue, and project close.
  • Experience supporting ERP transformation programmes and global process standardisation initiatives.
  • Proven ability to assess business impacts and design scalable enterprise solutions.
  • Strong stakeholder management and workshop facilitation skills.
Desirable
  • Experience within engineering, consulting, professional services, or project-based organisations.
  • Experience working alongside Business Architecture and Global Process Owner operating models.
  • Experience supporting multi-region deployments and global operating models.
  • Exposure to Finance, Order-to-Cash, and enterprise integration processes.

Compensation

Expected Salary (all locations): $145,400.00 - $259,100.00

WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.

Expected Salary (Colorado only): $145,400.00 - $243,200.00
