Job summary

The International Association for Fire Safety Science is looking for a PhD candidate focused on a novel combustion modeling approach for fire-driven turbulent diffusion flames.

You will work on developing a sub-grid combustion model and implement it in major software packages like ANSYS Fluent and OpenFOAM. The position offers guaranteed funding for 4 years, enabling research in an internationally recognized team.

Qualifications

  • MSc degree in mechanical, thermal, chemical engineering, or fire safety engineering is required.
  • Strong interest and proven experience in numerical simulations, combustion, and fire modeling.
  • Ability to code and implement user-defined functions in ANSYS Fluent or modify existing code in OpenFOAM.

Responsibilities

  • Implement novel modeling concepts in ANSYS Fluent and OpenFOAM software.
  • Conduct extensive CFD studies to assess and develop the new sub-grid combustion model.
  • Validate new modeling approaches against experimental data.
