Job summary

Eliassen Group in Charlotte, NC seeks a backend-focused Fullstack Software Engineer to accelerate delivery within the Emerging Digital organization. The role supports the ACE workflow application, leveraging Temporal workflows and a modern AWS-based architecture, designing, building, and maintaining FastAPI services, and implementing Terraform-based infrastructure.

The ideal candidate is senior and autonomous, able to produce production-ready code and documentation.

Qualifications

• 5+ years AWS experience across Lambda, API Gateway, RDS, DynamoDB, and VPC.
• 3+ years Terraform and Infrastructure-as-Code expertise.
• 5+ years of Python development with 3+ years using FastAPI or similar async frameworks.
• Expertise with PostgreSQL, JSONB queries, async/await, REST API design, and SQLAlchemy ORM.
• Experience with git workflows, pull requests, and CI/CD.
• Ability to work independently and deliver production-ready code with strong communication and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop robust asynchronous FastAPI services for form generation, submission, and persistence.
• Design and optimize PostgreSQL schemas and SQL queries using SQLAlchemy ORM.
• Implement error handling, logging, and observability for reliability.
• Create and maintain pytest test suites with 80%+ coverage.
• Apply SOLID principles and clean code practices.
• Build AWS infrastructure via Terraform (Lambda, API Gateway, RDS, DynamoDB, VPC, S3, CloudWatch).
• Establish IaC standards with Terraform Cloud and reusable modules.
• Collaborate using Git workflows and CI/CD; document architecture and services.

Our client seeks a Backend-focused Fullstack Software Engineer to accelerate delivery within the Emerging Digital organization. The role will support the ACE workflow application, which relies on Temporal workflows and a modern AWS-based architecture. The engineer will design, build, and maintain FastAPI services, implement Terraform-based infrastructure, and contribute to front-end features as needed. The position requires a senior, independent developer who can produce production-ready code and documentation.

Rate: $80.00 to $90.00/hr. w2

Responsibilities:

• Design and develop robust asynchronous FastAPI services for form generation and validation, submission and persistence, user and project management, and integrations with AWS services including Bedrock, S3, DynamoDB, and RDS.
• Design and optimize PostgreSQL schemas, including JSONB queries, and apply SQLAlchemy ORM effectively.
• Implement error handling, logging, and observability with attention to reliability.
• Create and maintain pytest test suites targeting 80%+ coverage.
• Apply SOLID principles and clean code practices.
• Design and implement AWS infrastructure via Terraform, including Lambda, API Gateway with custom authorizers, RDS PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, VPC and security groups, private endpoints, S3, CloudFront, ALB, and CloudWatch monitoring.
• Establish Infrastructure-as-Code standards including Terraform Cloud, state management, and reusable modules.
• Collaborate using git workflows and CI/CD, and document architecture and services.

Experience Requirements:

• 5+ years of AWS experience across Lambda, API Gateway, RDS, DynamoDB, and VPC.
• 3+ years of Terraform and Infrastructure-as-Code expertise, including security, networking, and cost optimization.
• Experience with API Gateway custom authorizers, VPC endpoints, Lambda cold-start optimization, and Layer management.
• 5+ years of Python development with 3+ years using FastAPI, Django, or similar async frameworks.
• Expertise with PostgreSQL, JSONB queries, async/await patterns, REST API design, and SQLAlchemy ORM.
• Experience with git workflows, pull requests, and CI/CD.
• Ability to work independently and deliver production-ready code with strong communication and documentation skills.
• Front-end experience, ideally with Angular.
• Temporal workflow development experience.

Education Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.
